Research programmes

Experimental Vinification at ICV  Group

To benefit from the synergies of the most innovative techniques, the ICV Group develops partnerships with private companies or research organizations. Many R & D programmes are initiated within the framework of associations or collaborative programmes.

We present below an overview of key projects pursued or initiated during the past season:

Valuation of tolerant varieties (RESVIN)

Objective: identify varieties tolerant or disease-resistant products in Europe, assess their potential for identifying those to be the subject of an implementation study in France.

This work resulted in the publication of the Technical Guide of resistant varieties .
Optimization of Grape juice industry (FIJUS-Raisol)

Objective: To develop a new range of grape juice with improved nutritional value: reduced in sugar content, rich in polyphenols,with controlled acidity. This objective also involves the need to establish an industry dedicated to grape juice from the Languedoc-Roussillon.

Using the leaf nitrogen around veraison

Objective: To assess the constraints and benefits, in terms of impact on the profiles of white and rosé wines, of this practice.

Maceration hot: technological and oenological aspects

Objective: To determine the most appropriate tools and piloting modes depending on the product objectives.

Validation of winemaking techniques routes conform to European regulation on organic produce

Objective: To determine the process needed in order to be in compliance with European regulations, including testing alternatives to PVPP, by dispensing with mineral nitrogen and reducing doses of SO 2, on raw materials from the organic farming.

Objective: To validate and compare technical routes with low intakes of SO 2.

Conservation of rosé wines

Objective: To evaluate the effects of storage conditions (conditioning of bulk storage in storage) on the characteristics of rose wines.

Oxygen

Objective: To characterize the impact of the level and types of oxygen exposure on the characteristics of wine packaging.

Selecting biotechnology

Objective: To continue the development of the VCI range of biotechnologies (yeast, bacteria, nutrients, enzymes ...).

Trials and tests biotechnology pieces of oak wood (chips, blocks, staves ...)

Objective: To evaluate the responses of ICV ranges to the characteristics of the vintage.

These programs ensure the development of our range of oenological products and expertise of our consultants on their implementation.

Assessing the impact of heating juice on the wines profile

Objective: To assess the industrial feasibility and identify the organoleptic and analytical benefits of heating the juice, white and rosé.

Study of the color stabilization of red from the harvest of industrial workshops heating

Objective: To identify the oenological practices for preservation of the color of wine from thermovinification.

Development of new analytical techniques

Objective: improve the performance and cost of steering tools and securing winemaking process, breeding and conditioning.

These developments are integrated into the analytic offer our laboratories

Study of interactions between wine and synthetic packaging (TAPVIN)

Objective: to develop chemical and sensory controls to select friendly packaging product quality.

Development of application of remote sensing tools for viticulture (VINNOTEC)

Objective: to develop new applications for the rational management of the vineyard by aerial and satellite imagery.

Selection of new yeast strains obtained by hybridization

Objective: To implement a yeast selection program using hybridization techniques work conducted as part of a thesis of 3 rd Round - CIFRE. Thesis successfully in June 2011.

Study of the impact of the reduction of costs in the wine organoleptic profile of wines from the Ardèche

Objective: To evaluate the impact of different technical routes (especially thermodétente) on the characteristics of wines to validate processes at reduced cost.

Physiological study of different genotypic strains of Brettanomyces.

Objective: To identify the volatile phenols production factors to adapt management tools based on the referenced strains.
